Authorship Policy

The Journal of Linguistics, Literature and Language Teaching (JLLLT) is committed to responsible authorship and to ensuring that all listed authors have made substantial scholarly contributions to the submitted work. Authorship carries both academic credit and accountability for the integrity of the published research.

This policy applies to all manuscripts submitted to JLLLT.

1. Criteria for Authorship

Only individuals who have made substantial scholarly contributions to the research should be listed as authors.

Such contributions may include substantial involvement in:

conception or design of the research;
development of the research methodology;
data collection as part of a substantive scholarly contribution;
data analysis or interpretation;
drafting the manuscript;
critical revision of the manuscript for important intellectual content.

All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript before submission and agree to be accountable for the work.

Individuals who have contributed only administrative support, funding acquisition, language editing, proofreading, or general supervision should not normally be listed as authors. Their contributions may instead be acknowledged in the Acknowledgements section where appropriate.

2. Responsibilities of Authors

All authors are expected to:

participate meaningfully in the preparation or development of the manuscript;
approve the final version before submission;
agree to its submission to JLLLT;
accept responsibility for the integrity of the research;
cooperate in responding to editorial questions before and after publication.

Each author should be able to identify which parts of the work they contributed to and should cooperate appropriately in investigating and resolving questions concerning the accuracy or integrity of any part of the research.

3. Corresponding Author

Each submission must designate one Corresponding Author.

The Corresponding Author is responsible for:

managing communication with the Editorial Office;
ensuring that all authors approve the submitted manuscript;
confirming that all listed authors satisfy the journal's authorship criteria;
ensuring that no qualified contributor has been improperly omitted;
coordinating revisions and responses during peer review;
communicating editorial decisions and relevant correspondence to all co-authors.

The Corresponding Author should ensure that all authors are informed of and agree to any substantive changes made to the manuscript during the editorial process.

4. Order of Authors

The order of authors should accurately reflect the scholarly contributions agreed upon by all authors before submission.

JLLLT does not prescribe a specific sequence of authors. Authors are responsible for reaching mutual agreement regarding authorship order before the manuscript is submitted.

5. Equal Contribution

Where appropriate, authors may indicate that two or more authors contributed equally to the work.

Any equal-contribution statement should be clearly identified in the manuscript at the time of submission.

6. Artificial Intelligence and Authorship

Artificial Intelligence systems and AI-assisted tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.

Authorship is limited to individuals who meet the criteria established in this policy and the journal's Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical compliance of the published work, including any content produced or assisted by AI tools.

7. Changes in Authorship

Authors are expected to determine the final list and order of authors before the initial submission.

Requests to:

add an author;
remove an author;
change the order of authors; or
change the Corresponding Author

will only be considered in exceptional circumstances before acceptance.

Any request for a change must include:

a written explanation for the proposed change; and
written agreement from all listed authors, including any author being added or removed.

Changes requested after acceptance will normally not be permitted except under exceptional circumstances and with the approval of the Editor-in-Chief.

Changes in authorship after publication will be handled in accordance with the journal's Correction and Erratum Policy and applicable publication ethics procedures.

8. Author Contribution Statement

JLLLT encourages authors to provide an Author Contribution Statement describing the contribution of each author.

For example:

Author Contributions

A.B. conceived the study and designed the methodology.

C.D. collected and analyzed the data.

E.F. drafted the manuscript.

All authors reviewed, revised, and approved the final manuscript.

Author contribution statements promote transparency and accountability in scholarly publishing.

9. Acknowledgements

Individuals who contributed to the research but do not meet the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged appropriately.

Examples may include contributions involving:

technical assistance;
language editing;
proofreading;
statistical consultation;
research administration;
financial support;
institutional support.

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission from individuals before including their names in the Acknowledgements section.

10. Authorship Misconduct

JLLLT does not accept unethical authorship practices, including:

guest authorship;
honorary authorship;
gift authorship;
ghost authorship;
omission of eligible contributors; or
inclusion of individuals who made no meaningful scholarly contribution.

Evidence of authorship misconduct may result in:

rejection of the manuscript;
correction of the published article;
retraction of the article; or
notification of the authors' institution where appropriate.

Such cases will be handled in accordance with the journal's Publication Ethics and Retraction, Withdrawal and Removal Policy.

11. Authorship Disputes and Editorial Investigation

Where an authorship dispute arises, the Editorial Team may:

request supporting documentation;
suspend editorial processing;
seek clarification from all authors;
request an institutional investigation where necessary.

The journal does not arbitrate authorship or ownership disputes. Editorial consideration may be suspended until the dispute has been resolved by the authors or their institutions.

12. Compliance

Submission of a manuscript to JLLLT confirms that:

all listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria;
all authors have approved the submitted version;
the order of authors has been agreed upon by all authors;
the manuscript has not been submitted without the knowledge and consent of the listed authors;
the authors accept responsibility for the integrity of the work.

Failure to comply with this policy may result in editorial action in accordance with the journal's Publication Ethics, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy, and Retraction, Withdrawal and Removal Policy.
